There is a friend, closer than a brother;
Through thick and thin, you’ll wish for no other.
His comfort, sweet; yes, sweeter than honey:
His care, like lembas, keeps for long journeys.
Look past his stature, for value’s unseen:
Look in his heart, there is treasure beneath.
He may appear to be boorish and coarse;
But on his shoulder, he’ll bear up your course.
Tempered, tested — much more precious than gold:
His glitter is his soul, this dear mellon.
